DESIREE SANCHEZ

"'You Are Here' is a design showcasing one of my favorite ways to connect, and that is to hear from my loved ones. I illustrated two children engaged in their long distance connection, feeling happy. Even if your friend is not standing in front of you, they can still be right there with you."

I am a self-taught artist born and raised in Pacoima of the San Fernando Valley. I create art full of color, inspired by the sun, my love for nature and the woman spirit.

ANTONIO VENEGAS

"For my interpretation of Connection, I decided to highlight the importance of connection to nature, with an emphasis on bees. Not only do we depend on them to pollinate our food, but they are great examples of how through communication, a community can work together, adapt and thrive."

Antonio Venegas is a designer who works and lives in Chatsworth. He attended Cal State University Northridge where he received a Bachelors in Art, emphasis in Graphic Design. With his works, Antonio is committed to represent important issues that are aligned with his values, such as protecting animals, nature and social issues.

"My artwork depicts the theme of 'Connection to Nature.' My design highlights beautiful sceneries you can experience in the San Fernando Valley. These include hiking trails and wildlife, cactus fields on a sunny day, vibrant poppy flowers, and beautiful sunsets."

She was born in the San Fernando Valley in the city of Reseda and comes from a family of artisans. Her love for art came naturally and she continues to study and work on developing her skills. CHERYL KNIGHT

"Nature in all its color connects us. We are all united through our shared pain and happiness. Through the use of nature and fantasy, these colorful images connects us through the language of visual art. Fairies coloring nature with banner ribbons add a festive element to the artwork. It is something all ages can see and will bring a smile and joy to their hearts."

As a native California, I received my B.A. in Fine Arts from UCSB. Upon graduation, I went on to study painting in Europe. I studied Illustration at Art Center College of Design, which led me to spend a few years freelancing commercial art. I've worked in animation on many productions in television, including many years at Disney Feature Films. I've taught K-12 art in LAUSD for many years and recently left teaching to focus on my own artwork.

KHRIFF PANIAGUA

"My design is the name 'Northridge' growing vines and leaves with butterflies flying around it. It is significant to the theme because it shows letters (a prime form of communicating and connecting with others) intertwined and connecting to itself while the butterflies symbolize the changes the world is going through."

Khriff was first introduced to art through graffiti. After graduating from Reseda High School in 1995, he began freelancing as an illustrator and muralist to earn extra money. Since then, Khriff has painted dozens of murals for schools, churches, businesses and private parties around LA County. He has also worked for many companies as an artist, designer, photographer and content creator.

"This box represents diversity and inclusion in colorful panels: a rustic mestizo cowboy, a black stylish young woman, a Native American youthful man & a meditative Asian woman. At the end, we're all human beings. This artwork celebrates community and honors diversity, representing heritage and races that are part of the society."

I am a visual designer and web developer, based in Glendale but commuting between Panama and Mexico. Beside sketching while traveling, I enjoys painting art murals. Each of my boxes tells a story about the community or my personal life experience. I have painted about 20 utility boxes in greater Los Angeles and have studied at UCLA and Art Center College of Design.

ADRIANA FONSECA

"My illustration portrays women of different ethnic backgrounds, cultivating a community garden. The image brings a sense of responsibility and mutual interest- a group effort to create and bring rebirth, growth, acceptance and friendship to our neighborhood during these tough times of racial and social injustice and pandemic. I want to portray a sense of welcome and belonging to our city, we are all equal and responsible for our community and we must all work together for our city to grow greener, healthier and become a better place for the future generations to come."

I am an illustrator and graphic designer who graduated from CSU Northridge in 2010. I love to share my artwork with others, each illustration and design is meant to bring positivity and love to others who view it.
