Among the important venues of Arcadia, there is Santa Anita racetrack park, home to countless prestigious races.
My proposal pays tribute to this landmark, and the jockeys, since a good jockey is as important to his horse as a conductor to an orchestra. The front side shows a detailed image of a participant in race (with the colors of City of Arcadia logo), standing out from a group of colorful silhouettes, with the San Gabriel Mountains in the background and a lane of iconic palm trees standing tall - all part of the scenery. Soft pastel colors and design are inspired by the streamlined and sleek poster style of art deco period, where elements are minimalist, sharp, high contrast with a reduced color palette.
I am a visual designer and web developer, based in Glendale, CA and studied at UCLA, Los Angeles College of Figurative Arts and Art Center College of Design.I have been commissioned to paint public art in institutions like Technological University of Panama and more than 20 utility boxes in California.

My design illustrates organic shapes and minimal shapes that allow the viewer to open their imagination to create their own narrative of the piece. The minimalism and midcentury shapes gives it a modern feel.
Playing with bold blue, green and red colors from the Arcadia logo mixed with a light pink to give it a vintage look.

The City places great emphasis on preserving “green space” and its commitment to the environment is evidenced by the large population of healthy trees you will find around town. Arcadia has been designated a Tree City USA for seventeen consecutive years. My drawing is of a forrest like setting that is meant to represent Arcadia and remind its citizens that the city is one of the best Tree Cities in all of LA.
Hello, my name is ZLA! I am a first generation American born and raised right here in Los Angeles. I found myself always drawing at an early age and remember driving by these murals around the city and really being inspired by them. It was very influential in my decision to pursue art as a career and so I attended the Art Center in Pasadena where I studied Illustration and Painting. I love to paint and I love painting outside for the community even more. It’s one way I try to give back to this city so full of culture. My inspiration continues to draw from Los Angeles and all it has to offer.

"I As a child, I would hear mariachi music from a neighbor's yard every weekend, and people were always encouraged to dance. Annually, my elementary school would have experts come and perform the Jarabe Tapatio, which we were told was the national dance of Mexico. The colors and patterns of the dresses were mesmerizing. They would belnd into one another, and their varying colors became one beautiful mass, undulating melody. I am no longer living in the same area as when I was a child, but the same types of songs play in my neighbors' yards on warm summer nights. But now at sundown, dancers are joined by a flock of wild parrots flying overhead."
I was born and raised in Granada Hills, CA, and am currently residing in the city of San Fernando. I am an art major at LA Mission College and have also studied at an atelier. My paintings and drawings have been displayed at Galeria Gitana and numerous other art shows around LA County.

"I believe social injustice stems from the misconception that different races are somehow inherently foreign, forgetting that we all are apart of the same tapestry. We are all beautifully unique, yet the same."
I am a multi-platform artist working as a set painter in LA. I grew up here, there & everywhere.

"The illustration highlights the power of color theory and the sheer magnitude of what color compliments can do. As Van Gogh noted, colors intensify in relation to one another, and this mural design celebrates that observation. Using no central focal point, this playful design is enjoyed at all angles."
A native to Southern California, currently living in North Hollywood, I am a multimedia artist who thoroughly enjoys the act of mural creation. It's like the modern day art gallery, allowing local artists to include their colorful ideas amongst the human landscape, brightening the neighborhood and injecting culture into everyday living. I've been painting a host of my own murals throughout LA. I've had the opportunity to paint well over a dozen electrical box murals, each one unique and shining bright in its location.

"This piece is dedicated to the Tataviam first peoples of Pacoima and Sylmar. Our modern city is alive with the spirit of our first people. This piece is aimed at honoring their current presence in our lives as a bird soaring high."
My calling in life is to help bring healing and inspiration through creative consciousness. Art making has been a part of my life since I was a young child. Creation has in many ways been my therapeutic approach in processing emotions and making sense of the world. Now I make art for a living through design and art therapy with my clients.

"Sunflowers represent longevity and good fortune. In today's social and political climate we have faced many challenges and lost our sense of clarity and direction. But sunflowers are known to grow in the direction of the sun and keep the cycle of nature going. The Tatviam tribe resided in northeast San Fernando Valley, their name means 'people who face the sun.' For the top of the box, we included the city of Pacoima and the Spanish word 'próspera,' which translates to 'thrive.' We chose this to represent our own Latino(a)/X community in the city of Pacoima."
Esmeralda and Karla Bobadilla are sisters, born and raised/based in the San Fernando Valley. Esmeralda Bobadilla currently attends the University of California Irvine, majoring in Art with a minor in Digital Art and Art History. Karla Bobadilla attends California State University Fullerton, majoring Art with a concentration in Graphic and Interactive Design.

"Here in the North East Valley, we move in many ways. Mothers walk their kids to school, elders ride the bus, and youth skate to pass the time. On a good day, we take a quick pause and buy treats from our street vendors. Our streets could be precious place and thus must be protected"
Raised in North Hollywood with roots in Veracruz, Mexico. Gemma's creative work explores the urban ecology through mixed mediums. They currently attend CSUN and hope to have a community role focused on mobility justice.

"The hand is very symbolic, representing creation, 5 senses, protection and spirituality. Here it is coming out of the land among mountains with butterflies flying out with a glow/energy flow, representing evolution and liberation. The heart represents life, strength, growth and passion."
I was born in San Gabriel, California. My parents Joes & Irma are both from Guadalajara, Mexico. They immigrated here while 7 months pregnant with me. My interest in art sparked in middle school. Since then, I've been creating art on & off to express and reflect.
